I'm looking for a place that is happy to host a first birthday party for my son, somewhere in NW or Central London.

The party will be on a Saturday afternoon in March and we're hoping to invite about 15 adults and maybe 15 children aged between 1 and 8.

Does anyone have any ideas for somewhere suitable? We did think about Topsy Turvy world in Brent Cross but they want £16/child which is a little too expensive. I'd rather pay for a venue (rather than per child)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

If what you want is a space (and you and other parents will bring toys) the local church hall is always a good bet.

If you're after something which provides the activities themselves, have you heard of Gymboree? My son loves it, and I think it would cover off all your little invitees provided they're at least crawling. Might be a bit dull for the 8-year-old, but assuming they enjoy playing with the babies there's plenty of stuff there they could use for games with them.

It's a franchise operation, so I'm guessing (a) there will be a few branches near you and (b) they'll take quite a flexible approach towards pricing etc.

What about a pool party ? Kids and a parent get wet splash around a bit then some food after? Our local leisure centre does them and quite reasonably priced.

You didn't mention a date but a teddy bear picnic in the park ??

A 1st Birthday Party is primarily for family and friends. If you have family who live near you, invite them over for a family celebration. If your child regularly plays with other children, you may wish to include them and their parents in your family celebration or invite them to a small, separate party (a play date with cupcakes).

1st Birthday themes can focus on the #1 or characters that are popular with young children, such as Sesame Street, Baby Einstein, Barney, and Winnie the Pooh. A favorite toy (teddy bear, doll, or truck) might also suggest a fun party theme. Visit our sister site First Birthday Fun for dozens of 1st Birthday party theme ideas.
If you don't have enough budget for the place, then better do the party at your house, the most important thing in that party is the birthday celebrants joy.
